Just average pants I expected to see more padding in the cycling shorts, granted they are junior shorts but the padding is quite limited even for a young rider to be in the saddle for 30+ miles. I will look elsewhere next time when I buy cycling shorts for my grandson. No I would not recommend these to my friends kids or grand childern.

Children’s Size, not Youth These pants are VERY small, not youth size as described. The size L (12-14) was MUCH too small for my thin 12 year old (he barely weighs 90 lbs). The legs are short and the waist was tight. They are not much different in size from the bike shorts I bought him when he was 8 years old. Quality is good, however, so just keep sizing in mind when ordering.

Seams in the crotch! The material feels strong and well constructed. However, I am disappointed that there is cross seam in the crotch area.Eventhough this is for kids, I still expected PI to have a seamless crotch. With this said, my son does enjoy wearing it and I think that with the shorts being longer, it will not ride up his legs. We will know this weekend.
