Pearl Izumi’s gone downhill I’ve worn Pearl Izumi Pro shorts for several years. I keep three pair on hand and rotate them after each ride. Very comfortable and good durability. I typically need to replace one pair every three years because the seat fabric eventually gets thin between the waistband and chamois. I ride in Colorado 6 days/week, 9 months/year and put in 4,800+ miles. For me, this means I get about 320 hours of cycling/pair of shorts before they need replacement.

Firmer chamois padding, initial fit is very tight The sizing is about right. I notice a few people mentioning that the Pearl Izumi tights tend to run small, but remember that these are compression shorts. I’m 6’3″, 160 lb, with a waist of about 32-33 inches. That puts me in Medium, but a Large will fit. However, with time the Large tends to be a tad loose while the Medium expands to a comfortable fit. This isn’t any different with the Pro In-R-Cool shorts, as they are very tight out of the package to the point I am wondering how my thighs…

2014 Version. Thin & Comfy! Great price on Amazon. This new 2014 version is very comfy! Definitely runs a bit smaller compared to my P.I. Elite pair. These are now my go-to pair and I love how the new 2014 Pro chamois is thick where it needs to be, yet tapers down to a thinner pad in the front and sides so as to not feel as bulky as my old Specialized (can’t think of model at the moment but were about $100 retail) or my P.I. Elites. I am right between a medium & large in the sizing chart and am VERY glad I ordered the size large in this model…
