I’m 5′ 0″ (compared 3 Pearl Izumi models) After going to several bike shops in town and trying on women’s shorts that were always too big and baggie for me (I’m 5’0”, 118 lbs with a 31” waist around belly button..got some inches to loose!) I decided to get some shorts from Amazon that I could not find/try at the store, per REI salesman recommendation I went with Pearl Izumi. Great shorts Love those! The fit is funny – I read I should size up or the liner would be too tight – I don’t know… I got a large and the outer shorts are loose. Which is not bad, especially since they have velcro tabs to adjust the waist. The liner fits perfectly. It is not tight, tho. If I wear leggings, they typically have some compression and feel much closer to the skin. I wonder if M would not be better. They are MTB shorts, tho, and the extra room helps when moving around. There are two patches of velcro that can modify the waist size but they’re too thick, hard, and uncomfortable and don’t make the waist small enough even when fully closed.
